LKH is a Christian college in Manchester, and we provide ecumenical courses in Christian education and ministry training and equipping to people of all churches and traditions.
As a Christian theological college, we offer BA and MA contextual theology Christian degree courses and short courses for personal interest. We have a range of theology, ministry, mission, Christian spirituality and Bible courses on offer.
We offer courses to suit all interests, abilities and levels of experience, from introductory to advanced, so whether you are an experienced minister or church leader, or new to Christianity and the Bible, our college has a course for you.
You can study spirituality, theology, worship, discipleship, biblical studies, preaching, liturgy, pastoral care, Christian ethics, ministry, mission, evangelism, inter-faith dialogue, pioneer ministries, children’s and youth ministries, community ministries, chaplaincy training, church leadership, systematic theology and more.
Our courses will help you develop your knowledge and understanding of all areas of Christian ministry and discipleship. They will give you the practical skills you need to put your learning into practice in your church and community. Here is our full list of modules.
Most these individual modules are taught on a weekly basis across 8 to 16 weeks, whilst some are taught in more intensive patterns to allow greater flexibility.
We are an ecumenical, diverse, inclusive and welcoming learning community, made up of people from many different backgrounds and traditions, and our courses are designed to make your learning relevant to your real life context and ministry.
Our courses will help you to deepen your understanding of God, and to learn new ways to live out your faith meaningfully in the world around you.
Most of our theology and Bible courses are modules from our BA or MA degree programmes in Contextual Theology. You can enrol on any of our courses on a not-for-credit basis, just for personal interest or for professional development; or you can apply to study on our undergraduate or postgraduate contextual theology degree courses in order to obtain an academic qualification (MA, BA, Diploma or Certificate in Contextual Theology).
We also offer a postgraduate doctoral theology degree, leading to the award of an MPhil or PhD. Our theology degrees are all validated by the University of Manchester.
Our courses are flexible and affordable, with part and full time study options, and SLC loans and grants are available for eligible students on our degree courses.
Although we don’t offer online distance learning degrees, we combine face to face teaching with online support, so you can do much of your learning from a distance. For part-time students, our flexible timetable and teaching patterns allow you to study alongside work and other commitments without needing to attend college on a weekly basis.
In addition to these degree level courses, our Open Learning Programme incorporates a wide range of day workshops, lectures, conferences and access course, which often include a focus on different aspects of theology, biblical studies, worship, mission, Christian ministry and discipleship.
You can also focus on a particular aspect of theology or faith through our individually guided Explorations independent study programme, which enables you to tailor your reading and research with tutorial support from an expert in your specific field of interest. This includes 6 months’ full membership of our library.
To enrol on any of our courses, or our Explorations programme, complete and return our module registration form, or for more information about these and other theology courses and events on offer at Luther King House, see our Open Learning Programme, or contact the LKH Registry Office.
